AI & Financial Guidance Disclosure
How Clearday AI produces its answers, what it can and cannot do, and why it is not a substitute for professional advice.

1.What the assistant is
Clearday AI is an assistant inside Clearday that answers questions about your money, such as what you spent, which bills are coming, how a debt plan compares, or what you can afford before payday. It uses a large language model provided by Anthropic.
2.How an answer is made
- You ask a question.
- Clearday's own code reads the relevant accounts, transactions, bills and loans and computes the figures the answer needs.
- The language model writes the answer around those figures. It is given the numbers; it does not do the arithmetic.
- Before you see the answer, its figures are checked against the computed values.
Every figure in an answer comes from your data. If your data is missing or out of date, the answer will be too.
3.What it sees, and what it doesn't
The assistant sees the same financial information you see in Clearday. It never sees your bank login, which stays with Plaid.
Names are tokenized before anything is sent to the model. Our AI provider, Anthropic, does not train its models on data sent through its API. See the Privacy Policy for more.
4.Changes need your approval
The assistant can propose changes to your Clearday account, such as:
- recategorizing transactions,
- setting a loan's due date,
- creating a rule, a goal or a bill.
Each proposed change is shown to you first and happens only after you approve it. You can undo an approved change afterwards.
It cannot move money. The assistant has no ability to transfer, pay, withdraw or open anything at your bank. Clearday's bank connections are read-only.
5.Other AI apps you connect
You can also connect an AI app from another company, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code, to read your Clearday data. That app, not Clearday AI, writes its answers, and Clearday does not check its figures before you see them.
A connected app receives your data without the name tokenizing described above, under the terms of the company that provides it.
Changes it suggests wait for your approval in Clearday. If you gave it approve access, it can approve or undo its own low-risk suggestions itself; broad changes still wait for you. It cannot move money.
6.Its limits
- It can be wrong. Language models can misread a question, choose the wrong figure for the context or phrase something misleadingly. Check anything important against your statements.
- It only knows what Clearday knows. It does not see accounts you haven't added, income or bills it hasn't detected, or your plans, obligations and circumstances outside the app.
- Data can lag. Bank data arrives on your institutions' schedule, so a recent transaction may not be reflected yet.
- Forecasts are estimates. Predicted bills and paychecks are based on past patterns, and patterns change.
- Usage is limited. There is a daily limit on questions, which is higher on a subscription than during the trial.
7.Not financial advice
Clearday AI and everything else in Clearday provide educational guidance based on your data. They are not financial, investment, tax or legal advice. Clearday is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, financial planner, tax preparer or certified public accountant, and does not act as your fiduciary.
When the assistant compares options, such as two debt payoff strategies, it shows the arithmetic and leaves the decision with you.
8.When to talk to a professional
Consider a qualified professional before decisions like these:
- investing, retirement planning or changing retirement contributions: a fiduciary financial planner or registered investment adviser;
- taxes, including the tax effect of withdrawals, debt forgiveness or self-employment income: a CPA or enrolled agent;
- bankruptcy, debt settlement, collections or legal disputes: an attorney or a nonprofit credit counselor;
- insurance, estate planning or major purchases such as a home.
If you are in financial distress, a nonprofit credit counseling agency can help at low or no cost.
